How to Take Care of Oily Skin in the Winter

During the winter months, the cold dry air can strip even the oiliest skin of natural moisture. Oily skin requires specialized care regimens in order to avoid breakouts, and also overdrying during winter weather. Following a few guidelines will keep your oily skin healthy and glowing. Always follow skin care regimens throughout the year, especially to eliminate problems that could arise due to excess oil.

STEP 1
Exfoliate your skin daily. This will slough off dead skin cells and clear clogged pores of bacteria and sebum. Exfoliation will also keep skin from drying out during exposure to cold air.exfoliation soothes dull skin and freshen up....

TIP
here are 5 homemade scrubs, you can easily try at home
1.1 tsp rosewater +1/2 tsp almond flour or finely ground almonds.
2.1 Tbsp. ground oatmeal +2 tsp. yogurt
3.2 tsp mashed banana+2 tsp rolled oats+1 tsp milk+1 tsp honey
4.1/2 cup cooked  pumpkin puree +1/2 cup brown sugar+1/4 tsp ground cinnamon+few drops almond/olive oil
5.2 to 3 Tbsp. Cornmeal+small amount of full cream milk
u can also add any fruit pulp in any of the scrubs above for extra benefits

STEP 2
Apply an oil-free moisturizer to skin daily. This will prevent additional oils from being introduced to the skin and keep it protected from drying winds. Avoid body butters and creams as these contain petroleum, which increases skin's oil production.Apply a vitamin E-enriched moisturizer to the face. Vitamin E is essential to skin health and will not clog pores. This also soothes irritation caused during winter months.

TIP
a few drops of almond oil +oil for vitamin E capsule  is the best moisturiser in winter

STEP 3
Apply medicated lip balm to your lips to avoid chapping. Even oily skin and lips will chap due to cold harsh winds. The medicated balms will reintroduce moisture without adding oiliness to the lips.

TIP
a simple homemade lip balm is desi ghee or butter

STEP 4
Avoid long hot showers. Hot water dries out the skin and eliminates natural moisture balance. Opt for warm, shorter showers with a mild oil-free cleanser.
TIP

add a drop of your fav essential oil to floor under the shower so that aroma relaxes you

STEP 5
Apply an oil-free sunscreen of at least SPF 15 when going outdoors. The sun's UV rays can still cause damage to your skin even while the temperatures are low.

STEP 6
Drink eight to ten glasses of water per day. This will flush toxins and bacteria from the skin's pores and keep skin well hydrated. Water also regulates oil production in the skin.

TIP
also have green tea n fruit/veg smoothies for extra nourishment.

thank you
